Not to be confused with the Upper Onion Creek Campground this boat launch and campground are right on the rivers edge. Much like Hittle Bottom day use here is free while camping has a fee, $20 a night in 2019. This is a good launch site for private trips since it cuts out about 2 ½ miles of flat water making low water day trips more feasible. The Onion Creek Rapid comes on pretty quick if you put on here. The mellowest line on the rapid is typically all the way right so we recommend ferrying all the way across to river right as soon as you put on.

This campsite is a little nicer than Hittle Bottom since it’s farther from the road but it usually fills sooner. The closer you get to Moab the quicker the campsites fill. There is pretty much no shade here so bring a popup or awning of some sort to escape the heat in summer.
