Broadway Bridge was never intended as a boat launch. The parking area was built as a park and ride for people carpooling on their morning commute but on the weekends it’s wide open. It’s a rough launch with graffiti, trash, broken glass, and mud. River clean ups over the years have made it a lot better but even after all the trash is gone the mud here will still suck. A raft would be a nightmare to take out here but it’s not too bad for kayaks, SUPs, or other small craft.
The only advantage to taking off here is cutting out 3 miles of flat water on the way to Blue Heron. The gradient after this bridge flattens out to almost nothing making the last few miles pretty slow. We don’t really recommend taking out here but know that it is an option for early takeout if the weather turns or in case of other emergency.
